Blocks and attributes
We currently use the settings ATTREQ=0 and ATTDIA=0. When I change the ATTREQ=1 and leave the ATTDIA=0 I am supposed to be prompted to enter a value on the command line. The settings work correctly when I am just inserting a block with the insert command. However, all of our blocks on a tool palette. When I put the same block in with the same settings I get a dialog box. Any suggestions on how to fix this? I would much rather the prompted at the command line.

Properties tool bar blinks and is inefective.
I am unable to access "Properties" tools via any of the usual methods. I have to resort to "List" to determine an object"s properties. The Properties tool bar blinks but does not respond. The Short properites tool does not show.
This just occured as I was working on the file. Any suggestions?
Thanks,

block references itself *invalid*
I am attempting to insert an updated block and first I get the following message:
room-tag-CD is already defined.
97 block references already exist in the drawing.
Update the definition and all of its block reference?
I answer Y
but then I get ....
Command: I
INSERT
Block room-tag-CD references itself
Regenerating model.
*Invalid*
The block does not insert.

Automated plot to PDF: multi-page single DWG file to individual PDF files
Does anyone know if it is possible to plot (by automation) individual PDF's from an AutoCAD file that contains multiple pages?
I know you can use the "publish" command & create PDF's from multiple files. I need to be able to create PDF's of each page within a single DWG file without having to plot to PDF individually.
Thanks,

Version compatibility issue
I'm finding that if a drawing has been created or even opened and edited with 2010, I can no longer copy and paste to or from that drawing while using 2009. I'm also having the same issue when it comes to editing attributes, and inserting/editing blocks.
The strange thing is that if I go to another machine that is running 2008, none of these issues occur.
Does anyone have any insight as to how I can solve this issue?

Application does not support just-in-time (JIT)
I am running both 2009 Civil and 2009 Map on windows XP.
A couple of months ago I started to getting an error in 2009 Civil (see below). The error would happen everytime that I would try to open a drawing directly after launching the program - no other commands were active. Since then I have only been using 2009 Map. Today the same thing started happening in 2009 Map.
I have looked at similar problem tha tother people seem to have however what they were doing at the time of the error was more compicated then simply trying to open a drawing file.
I woudl appreciate any help or advice.
Thx,
sarah

Template issues?
Hi
I have been teaching myself about creating templates and standards. Now when I open old drawings - text styles need to be redefined upon opening the drawing and a lot of block text doesn't even show up.
I know this is somewhat vague, so, if more info is needed I'd be happy to provide more.
All in all, I'd like to keep my old text. Thanks.

Video Issue with Windows 7 and AutoCAD 2009
I am having a graphics problem with WIndows 7 and AutoCAD 2009. When I draw a line at an angle and zoom in it is displayed at a distorted angel that gets worse the farther you zoom in. If you are using the scroll wheel to zoom in and out, you will see the line move like you are dragging one end up the screen. If you select erase and drag across the area it will hightight the line in its true location.
Any ideas. Thanks,

Working with images
What are the best techniques when working with images? I have to wonder if perhaps I could be doing something better. The way I usually get images is in .pdf form or as a .tiff already inserted into a .dwg.
Is there a better way or a better file type to use? I had 2010 for a year and really loved the new .pdf underlay feature, sadly it was taken away from me.

Can not load xref manager anymore.
Hello,
All of a sudden, I can no longer open my xref manager. I don't use xrefs often, so I'm not sure how long this behavior has been ongoing, but I have an idea....
I recently got some coordination drawings from a HVAC contractor and I needed to install their object enabler to properly view their files... To make a long story short, when I installed the object enabler, it would not work because of broken dependencies in the microsoft side by side (SxS) runtimes... The problem came from having so many developer tools installed on my machine (I used to do some development in my spare time). I uninstalled all of my many developer tools, and then one by one installed new redistributables until I found the one that fixed the problem (It ended up being Visual C++ 2005 SP1 that finally solved that dependency issue). Since then, everything has been working A-OK (including the CADDuct object enabler), until I noticed today that my xref manager will not load. That seems to be the only thing that is being affected, but I don't want to take any chances just in case other things are affected as well.
The following error is what I get on the command line when I try to manually load the module via "APPLOAD":
Command: APPLOAD
C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2009\AcXrefEsw.arx cannot find a procedure that it
needs.
AcRxDynamicLinker failed to load 'C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2009\AcXrefEsw.arx'
C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2009\acad.exeUnable to load AcXrefEsw.arx file.
Also, the following error appears when I try to launch the xref manager window (by using any method):
Command: xr
XREF
C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2009\ACXREFESW.ARX cannot find a procedure that it
needs.
I've tried reinstalling all of my Visual C++ redistributables (for both C++ 2008, and C++ 2005), can anyone tell me what modules specifically AcXrefEsw.arx relies on?
I have a dependency walker that I used on it and it seems like the broken dependencies are part of one of the C++ redistributable packages.
Someone please help me out here...

strange autosave behavior
I am working in one particular project where autosave will save at random times. It is set to save every ten minutes. Sometimes it will save & save again in maybe 2 minutes & then save again before ten minutes. Somethimes it seems to behave as it should. I have 8 files in the project & they are all doing the same thing. Also it takes 5 to 10 seconds to complete the save, which is very unusual as usually it only takes a second. All other projects are behaving as they should. All of the files are less than 700 kb. The only reference file I have attached is the title block which we use in other projects that don't have this problem. My computer is new, I don't know all of the specks, but it has a huge hard drive & 4 g of ram. Just wondering what could be the cause of this.
Thanks,
A.H. :smileywink:

Difference between blocks ??
In the attached file, there are three objects. A polyline and two seemingly identical blocks. If you do the boundary command inside the square you will see that the commands "sees" the bottom block, but not the top one. It's a long story about how the top, problem block, came into existence that I hope I won't need to go into (tedious). My main question is, what is the difference between the two that causes this? I thought one might have been inserted while there was a different ucs, but if I insert a new one at a different ucs than world, it still reacts normally. What gives?

Resizing Viewports
All,
Our office has just recently upgraded to Acad2009 from 2008 and all of a sudden resizing or moving around the viewports on paper space has become extremely painful. It takes ages to do and when dragging a viewport corner to enlarge or minimise the viewport just takes large jumps and doesn't move seamless across the screen. This is an issue with all computers within the office.
Has anyone experienced this problem, Is there a tick box somewhere that we need to turn on to rectify this or has the software not been installed correctly.
Any help that anyone can give is greatly appreciated.

weird looking icon... how can I get rid of it?
I've opened a 2009 dwg from a consultant, and it came in with an icon/object that isn't on a layer, nor is it selectable.
When I use the orbit command it appears as follows:
At the bottom is a red colored thick disc topped with a white cone shape, pointing away from the disc.
Please tell me what this is and how can I turn it off, or get rid of it entirely?
Thanks

Variable for XREFs that show lines that stretch out to almost infinity...
Does anyone know if there is a variable for changing the behavior of lines in an XREF. Whenever we XREF this one drawing, many lines from that XREF appear on the screen and seem to be shooting out way past the extents of the drawings. We are not sure if this a varibale setting for the session or if there is something saved in the dwg.

Multiple commands
If I choose the erase command (pencil icon), I can only erase one item. As I select more items, the last selected goes from dashed back to solid and I can only erase the last item selected. I used to be able to select several items in sequence and erase them all.
